Introducing the NEW Blundstone 500 TPU!

Whether you’re headed to the office or the outback, Blundstone 500s offer extraordinary comfort, timeless style, and they’re now more durable than ever!

Blundstone’s legendary 500 series boots are now made with TPU (thermo urethane) soles. The new TPU soles feature:

-Oil, acid and organic fat resistance
-Outsole temperature resistance up to 140 degrees C
-PORON® in the heel strike zone to increase shock protection
-An ergonomically engineered toe spring
-Steel shank to ensure correct step flex point
-The new Blundstone 500/510 are also made with even thicker leather to make sure your feet stay warm and dry no matter the weather.

How do you improve upon the classic, original Blundstone boot? Replace their already high quality, long-lasting, and rugged soles with an even more superior material. The new TPU-soled boots are guaranteed to impress with their temperature, oil, and acid resistance, long-term moisture resistance, and ergonomic design for maximum comfort.

We’ve just received a full container of 2012 Blundstone boots, including the all new TPU-soled 500 series, and beginning the second week of October, we will be selling ONLY the new 500 and 510.

What are some benefits of the new soles?

The new TPU-soled Blundstones are even more durable, water resistant, long lasting, and comfortable than the classic Blundstone 500s you know and love. In an effort to continually improve upon their legendary boots, and uphold the highest standards of quality, Blundstone has upgraded to TPU soles to ensure the maximum lifespan of each boot they manufacture. TPU-soled Blundstones are also oil and acid resistant, are able to resist temperatures up to 140 degrees Celsius, and are highly resistant to hydolysis and microbial attack.

How can you tell the difference between non-TPU soled 500/510s and the new TPU soled 500/510s?

Each pair of Blundstones has a manufacturing date clock molded into the sole. The month and year the boot was manufactured are indicated on the dial. If the center of the dial reads “11″, the boots were made in 2011 and have the new TPU sole. Blundstone 500/510s made prior to 2011 were constructed with the standard PU (polyurethane) sole.

Blundstone Hall of Fame

Blundstone USA and Sugar River Outfitters founders Terry and Poppy Fletcher were recently inducted into the Blundstone Hall of Fame. This honor was given to them for their activism in promoting the Blundstone brand and distributing Blundstone footwear.

The first distributors in the US Terry and Poppy worked hard to build the reputation of the traditional Australian boot in a tough US market. However, the over saturated footwear market proved difficult to receive placement in stores. The consumer demand for Blundstone’s grew and soon were contacting the distributor for direct sales. This led to the opening of Sugar River Outfitters in 1999 as an online retailer to help supplement store sales.

Sugar River Outfitters remains the #1 source for Blundstone footwear. SRO offers a unique point of view on the boots as many of the employees have been to the Blundstone factory and seen the boots being made. This helps make our sale team the most knowledgeable retail seller of Blundstone’s.

During the recent induction Terry and Poppy were the only Blundstone representatives inducted into the Hall of Fame outside of Australia.

An Old Friend Right Out of the Box!

Tags: ,

IN THESE days of impatient consumers and instant gratification, it has become something of a fading tradition to have to “wear in” a pair of Blundstones, the hard-wearing Tasmanian work boot.
Many farmers, tradies and other outside workers swear by the traditional 500 model boot and are only too willing to take the time (and blisters?) to get them into the comfort zone. But, as the fame of Blunnies spread, more city folk wanted to wear them and, well, who’s got the time to run-in a pair of boots? I’ve got jazzercise in 10 minutes.
So, in a bid to keep the 300 cobblers down in Hobart even busier, Blundstone has come up with the NEW 561, a boot for the modern, cashed-up, time-poor, soft-footed suburbanite consumer. And the designers seem to have hit the mark.
Same classical look of the iconic style 500, but with added glove-soft weathered oiled 2.5mm thick waterproof nubuck suede, a more flexible sole, a footbed with the gun shock absorbing material under the heel and — wait for it — kid leather lining. The queue starts here …
So confident is Blundstone, it has adopted a three-second rule for the new boot. That’s how long it will take most people to realise the boot is already comfortable and doesn’t need to be be worn in.

Love that Aussie Rossi 900

Testimonial
sent to Rossi Au from a Sugar River Outfitters’ Customer:

I just wanted to let Rossi know how happy I am with their boots. I purchased my first pair of Rossi 900 Forbes about 1-year ago from Sugar River Outfitters. First off I have to say I have been a strong supporter of Australian made boots for about 10-years. I have owned 2-pairs of Blundstone, 3-pairs of Red backs and now my first pair of Rossi over this time period. I have liked all of my boots to date, but I have to say the Rossi boots have been the icing on the cake. I am an electrician and spend about 50% of my time in the office and the other in the field. I wear these boots everyday including weekends and I have never been more happy with the end product as I am with Rossi. I am very demanding and tough on my footwear and both for work and play. There is little that I have not done with my boots. No matter how scuffed or roughed up the leather gets on the toe area, a little beeswax leather treatment always cleans up and beautifies the leather. I guess what I am most impressed with is how well the soles of this shoe has held up with minimal to no wear over a year’s timeframe. I have opted to wear Super-feet aftermarket insoles with my boots as I have back problems and I have found these insoles to work with all of my shoes. I would recommend this boot over the other Australian made boots for anyone that is having difficulty deciding. In addition to being a quality boot they are very rugged and good looking. And I often get compliments and questions as to where I got them. I do not typically write a manufacturer or rate their products online so I think that is a testimonial in itself as to the quality of their
boots.

Thank you,

Hemple from Seattle, WA

Leave an Aussie Blundstone Footprint

Tags: ,

Recently Blundstone discontinued the famous tug shoe and introduced a new replacement, the Blundstone Clog. Not everyone wants to wear a summer, flimsy, flip flop with no support. Now, I can have the same legendary durability and comfort as the iconic Blundstone boot, but in a casual summer clog.

Many medical professionals feel that summer sandals are notoriously ‘bad’ for your feet. However, clogs have an added value of protecting our toes, providing arch support, and most of all, some well needed fresh air circulation for those of us with sweaty feet! In fact, many brands of clogs are marketed specifically to professionals who spend a great deal of time on their feet, such as nurses, doctors, hairdressers and restaurant chefs.Making us feel oh so good on our feet has been a manufacturing creed for Blundstone. The Blundstone Bl511 stout brown (top) and the Bl512 black (bottom) are weather sealed, oil and acid resistant, with a dual-density polyurethane sole. Compression molded EVA midsole for cushioning and flexibility. The dry wick lining prevents moisture to keep your feet cool and refreshed on any hot summer day. Of course, I also like to wear mine in the fall with my favorite thick comfy socks.

Take a break and slide into some comfort! Blundstone All Leather All Weather Clog starts at $130.
